About 200 students of the kindergarten wing of The British School, Panchkula had an opportunity this morning to store such memories for the future when they visited the neighboring marketplace as part of their co curricular activities calendar this year.
It was a practical and hands on experience for the students to add up a number of names of places in their vocabulary. They visited the grocery shop and enjoyed talking to the people there. They saw a vegetable vendor and were given information on how he procures vegetables and fruits and sells it to the people. Students also visited the temple located in the sector. They also visited a departmental store and were sensitized on its working. They were taken to different sections of the store.
Students were made aware of the chemist who sells medicines and cures us all. KG students observed how markets are established to meet the demands of consumers. While in the markets, the students made many insightful and interesting observations about merchants, and how their world of business works. They enjoyed interacting with the merchants in the market.
Director of the school, Mr.Sanjay Sethi said, “On the outside, these trips to markets may look like just another reason to get out of the classroom and spend time outside of school, but the fact remains that these trips play a hugely important role in mastering the key concepts for the kindergarten students and engaging in interdisciplinary learning.”
